DIANA MAYANTS
PT, DPT, OCS, CMPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist
Certified Manual Physical Therapist
Diana is one of the few dual-board certified orthopedic manual physical therapists in NYC. She has earned the prestigious title of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2015; a certification attained by less than 5% of physical therapists nationwide.
In 2017, she completed the rigorous NAIOMT (North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapists) earning the prestigious title of Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT).
Diana earned her doctorate in physical therapy with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Prior to her doctorate degree, Diana studied at Quinnipiac University and attained a bachelors in science degree with honors. Diana was heavily involved in campus extracurriculars including serving as a cardio kick-boxing instructor, a resident assistant and active Hillel member.
Upon graduating UMDNJ, Diana stayed at Morristown Medical Center after completing the last rotation and worked with patients in acute care, rotating between orthopedics (post-op and trauma), neurology, pulmonary, oncology and ICU.
Diana later decided to fine-tune her manual skills and pursued her passion of working in an out-patient orthopedic setting. Working in a variety of out-patient clinics, Diana grew a large and loyal following. Diana’s treatments delivered results that patients were seeking: a pain-free active lifestyle where they had the education and tools to keep themselves feeling their very best.
Every session begins with a thorough assessment and history taking. Scanning the entire body for mal-alignment and asymmetries, Diana takes time to tease out the driver in a patient’s pain/dysfunction. This is the key to identifying the cause of the patient’s pain and discomfort. Working together to restore a patient’s prior level of function takes a skilled clinician and an intimate setting that truly allows for healing and educating.
When she’s not in the clinic, Diana enjoys teaching in the physical therapy department at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, marathon running and spending time with her family.
